Considered an emblem of love, myrtle branches have been used in wedding ceremonies.
Source: Myrtus communis is grown in Spain.
Extraction: Myrtle essential oil is obtained from the small tree by steam distillation of the flowers which are very fragrant.
Aroma: Myrtle essential oil has a fresh, slightly camphoraceous scent similar to Eucalyptus.
Fragrance note: Top to Middle.
Properties: The pure oil is light and pale yellow to orange in colour. Myrtle Essential Oil is astringent and antiseptic and decongestant. It is often employed to relieve the symptoms of a cold.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporization.
Blends well with: Bay, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Clove, Ginger, Hyssop, Laurel, Lavender, Lime and Rosemary.
Caution: Always dilute Myrtle Essential Oil to less than 5% before skin application.
